Winter Newsletter September 2017

Dear Quilting Friends

Although I live in the "winterless North" it has certainly been a little chillier than we are used to here. I know some of you from around New Zealand have really had to batten down the hatches.Meanwhile those of you from the Northern hemisphere are having an amazing summer. I am really longing to see some sun, again this year I am very fortunate to be able to attend  Festival of Quilts in Birmingham . It will be lovely to catch up with friends from Australia and the UK , some are merchants and others are just visiting.I am really looking forward to seeing the exhibitions and will make sure I take lots of pictures to share with you all.

Have you checked out my website lately. I had fun making a video with Kim Thittichai while she was here about something very dear to my heart. Please do take time to watch it as we all affected in someway by the Breast Cancer disease. You can help by downloading the free pattern and making the quilt "Linking Hands" for yourself or a friend . The tool used to create this lovely quilt is the 15 Degree squedge and for each tool purchased I am donating $10.00 to the Breast Cancer Society.
My art group and I made one for our friend , the Browns Bay Patchworkers had a  two day Retreat and each made one. Here are a few of the pictures.

Are you a Mixed Media artist ? I have received an interesting group of products from my trip to the Craft and Hobby show earlier this year.
Check them out here.

We as artisst need to feed our creativity. I am doing that in a couple of ways over this next year

I am going to be a merchant at the New Zealand symposium being held in Christchurch 5th to the 10th October 2017.
Click here to view all the details. It is an amazing event to attend both as a student and a retailer where the days and nights are spent with like minded friends. I have been working with a number of the Surface Design tutors to ensure they have all the requirements needed for their classes to be stress free. Please do contact me by email if you are attending and there is something special you require.I have listed some products already but some will be specific to Symposium and therefore not listed on the website.

Secondly I am going to invest in classes, for myself personally and also to host tutors to teach for Tulis Textiles . I am taking an online class with Kim Thittichai Transforming Transfers and in October after Symposium with Judy Coates Perez called Paint and Print a Palooza. Both are amazing tutors and if you wish to take a class with either I have highlighted the links. Tulis Textiles will be having Gloria Loughman teach her new class in May 2018.Details will be published in the Spring Newsletter.

I need to keep this short and sweet as am packing for my adventure to the UK. While away my lovely friend Sue will be assisting you with orders and queries.

Till next time
Happy Stitching
Kerry
